Who remembers that 90’s & early 2000’s builder grade Kitchen? For a family raising 3 boys, that kitchen served its purpose, no doubt! But those days are gone & our clients were more than ready to bring this kitchen into 2020. By reworking the layout we were able to not only increase storage & efficiency, but also to lighten & brighten up the space. Take a look at how we worked alongside our clients to give them the kitchen of their dreams!
Design/Build Interior & Exterior Renovation
Bursting with historical charm, this early 19th century farmhouse located at the foot of the Blue Mountains in Saugerties, was begging for a kitchen & laundry that fit the modern family needs. Our clients had done an amazing job updating the bulk of the home but the Kitchen (a previous addition) seemed like an afterthought and the laundry area was hidden in the dark depths of the fieldstone basement. Take a look at how we opened up the kitchen space to the entertaining areas of the home & upgraded a outdoor storage porch into a sun-drenched laundry retreat. Okay, laundry paired with retreat may be a stretch but it’s a major upgrade!

This century old lodge had all the architectural & historical character that one could want when relocating to the Catskills! Sprawling living areas, hand hewn exposed wood beams, original wide plank pine flooring & an amazing view. Only problem was that the 1970’s haunted most of these features. Thankfully our clients ability to see past the ‘70s allowed for an amazing transformation! See how we restored this Catskill’s lodge to work for its new owners, the modern day family.
Design/Build Full Home Rehab
Bungalow Baby, this cute little 2 bed 1 bath 1920’s kit home, was the perfect candidate for a full scale rehab. With a little flip flop of the floor plan, dormering out of the roof & rework of the existing rear addition, we were able to transform this sleepy little cottage to fully functional fun family home while keeping some classic cottage touches!
Design/Build Kitchen Renovation
Cue the wallpaper, vegetable tiled backsplash & some great 1970s cabinetry! All original to this 1970s home but not necessarily features our clients had envisioned for their first home’s kitchen. With a layout rework that included shrinking the windows ironically we were able to increase natural light, storage and give these cooks some more counter space to create amazing food! Design/Build Kitchen Renovation
Staying true to the original home, we worked alongside our Clients to give this 1950’s Mid-Century Modern Kitchen a breath of new life. While we maintained the original layout & much of the original characteristics of the original cabinetry profile, we were able to rework some of the kitchen guts to maximize storage as well as countertop space! Double win. With a fresh pop of color on the backsplash, stacked for a modern flare & accessorizing with natural brass toned lighting fixtures this cute kitchen is back in business! This home was in immaculate shape when our clients purchased it. However there was one small problem, the walls, floors and even appliances were original circa 1960’s (hence the project name wink wink). See how we transformed this ranch from dark and dated to light, bright & airy!

After graduating with degrees in Architecture, both Kris & Michele entered the world of project management working for commercial construction firms in Boston, MA. A few years in, both of them realized they were missing something. Both jobs lacked any design or hands on building which both had yearned for. They took a risk and quit their Boston jobs and Chestnut Street Design Co. was born!
They relocated to the Hudson Valley in New York, Michele's hometown, and the rest is history.
Nowadays you'll find both, along with their two daughters, son and Shiba Inu, renovating historic charmers and creating new charmers throughout Ulster County.
